Leaner becomes the second player unveiled by Amakhosi during the current transfer window after the club recently announced the arrival of defender Moloisane from Stellenbosch FC.
The shot-stopper joins the Soweto giants on a free transfer after parting ways with Sekhukhune at the end of last season, adding further depth and experience to Chiefs' goalkeeping department.
"Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of renowned shot-stopper Renaldo Leaner. We proudly welcome Renaldo to the Khosi Nation," the club wrote on their social media platforms.
Leaner's arrival intensifies competition for places between the posts, with Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen, Fiacre Ntwari and young goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba all currently part of the club's first-team squad.
The signing also raises questions over how Chiefs will manage their goalkeeping contingent, with several senior keepers now vying for the number one jersey ahead of the new campaign.
Chiefs have shown early signs of clear intent in the transfer market as they seek to assemble a squad capable of challenging for major honours after an inconsistent 2025/26 season especially with the club set to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup r.
Leaner will now aim to impress during pre-season and establish himself as a serious contender for the starting role when the new Betway Premiership season gets underway.
