Maghnes Akliouche completes 'big' PSG transfer from Monaco

Akliouche will wear the No. 11 shirt after PSG reached an agreement with Monaco following several weeks of negotiations. He arrives after establishing himself as one of Ligue 1's brightest talents and earning a place in Didier Deschamps' France squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

PSG believe Akliouche is the ideal replacement for Lee Kang-in, who recently joined Atletico Madrid.

Speaking after the move, Akliouche thanked the club's hierarchy and coach Luis Enrique for putting their faith in him.

"I'd like to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Luis Campos and, of course, coach Luis Enrique for the confidence they have placed in me," he said.

"I am very proud and obviously very happy. It is an honour to join a club as prestigious as Paris Saint-Germain."

The move also has personal significance for the midfielder, who grew up in the Paris region before joining Monaco's academy in 2017.

"When Paris Saint-Germain showed an interest in me, it was clear," he said. "It's a special club for me because I grew up in the Paris region. It is a great source of pride to play for Paris Saint-Germain."

"My aim is simple: work hard and help the team win."

Akliouche came through the youth ranks after playing for Villemomble and US Torcy before making his Ligue 1 debut for Monaco in 2021. He leaves the Principality club having scored 23 goals and provided 28 assists in 139 appearances across all competitions.

Despite fulfilling a childhood dream by joining PSG, the midfielder insisted he is already focused on proving himself.

"It's a wonderful story for me and my family, but right now I'm focused on working hard and repaying the trust shown in me on the pitch," he said.

"I know the high standards that come with representing this club, and that's my only focus."

Akliouche also had a message for the PSG supporters.

"I see every day how much they love the club. I'm very happy to sign for Paris Saint-Germain and I will give everything, simple as that."

The France international could make his first appearance for PSG when they face Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Gothenburg on Saturday.
