Man City star Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana have point to prove at FIFA World Cup

Man City star Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana have point to prove at FIFA World Cup

The Black Stars left it until deep into injury time to steal a winner through Caleb Yirenki to hand them three coveted points ahead of their second Group L fixture against England.

"Ninety minutes plus five [when the goal was scored]. I don't even know how to describe that emotion," said the 26-year-old after the match.

"We were all so relieved because we knew how important this game was for us and also because it gives us a confidence boost going into the next game.

"They [Panama] had some quite big guys to be honest, but we like that physicality. That's what we thrive off, and I thought it was a really good match-up today."

Ghana currently occupies second spot on the group table, behind England on goal difference following the latter's 4-2 win over Croatia.

"I am so happy to say that we've got that win, but we can't take our foot off the gas," added the former Bournemouth star.

"We now have two important games and big challenges ahead of us. It is going to be really tough and that is why we needed this win and the confidence to potentially help us into the next round.

"We feel like with this team, we've got talent, we've got a point to prove, and I feel like that's the driving force for us."

Ghana will face The Three Lions at the Boston Stadium next Tuesday.
