Man Utd agree terms to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson for 35m

The Premier League side have struck a deal valued at 35 million pounds, while a further 3.9m could be payable through performance-related bonuses.

The 26-year-old is still required to complete a medical, but sources indicate the move should be concluded in early July.

Ederson is set to commit to a four-year contract at Old Trafford, with United retaining the option to extend the agreement by an additional season.

The Brazil international, who has earned three senior caps, was named in his country's provisional 55-man World Cup squad but missed out on the final selection made by coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The midfielder has established himself as a versatile performer during his time in Bergamo, operating in several central midfield positions and contributing 16 goals across 180 appearances for Atalanta.

United view midfield recruitment as a key priority following the impending departure of Casemiro. The 34-year-old's contract expires at the end of the month, prompting the club to target multiple reinforcements in the centre of the pitch. Ederson is expected to be the first of as many as three midfield additions this summer.

Other names under consideration include Mateus Fernandes, although relegated West Ham United are seeking a sizeable profit on a player they signed from Southampton for more than £40m last year.

Elliot Anderson also remains on United's radar despite reportedly favouring a switch to Manchester City.
