Mason Mushore set to fire up AmaZulu midfield

Mason Mushore set to fire up AmaZulu midfield

Zungu believes the 23-year-old midfielder will be a valuable addition to Usuthu's squad.

"We welcome Mason to the AmaZulu family and we're confident he will add value and prove himself in our midfield," Zungu said in an official club statement.

Mushore, capped once by the Zimbabwe senior national team, echoed the excitement of joining the KwaZulu-Natal side.

"Joining AmaZulu is a dream come true for me. Mr Zungu told me he believes in me and he wants me to fight," he said.

He is the second Zimbabwean to join AmaZulu this season, following striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, who has already made his mark under coach Arthur Zwane, scoring four goals in 11 league appearances.

Mushore will compete for a spot in midfield with established names like Bongani Zungu, as well as rising talents Langelihle Mhlongo and Liam Bern. AmaZulu described the new signing as a "defensive midfielder known for his solid ball control and composure at the heart of midfield."

The Zimbabwean could make his AmaZulu debut when the team faces TS Galaxy at Moses Mabhida Stadium on January 25.

After 14 league matches, Usuthu currently sit fifth with 24 points, just four behind leaders Orlando Pirates, who have two games in hand. As the league resumes following the Africa Cup of Nations break, AmaZulu will be aiming to continue their promising run.
