Noni Madueke omitted from Arsenal's pre-season squad for tour of Asia

The 22-year-old winger, who completed the move across London just a day before the squad's departure, has been left out of the traveling party as the club carefully manages his transition into Mikel Arteta's setup.

Madueke joins Arsenal off the back of Chelsea's Club World Cup triumph in the United States, where he was involved in the final stages of the competition. Club sources have indicated that the decision to rest the England U21 international was influenced by his recent match involvement and travel demands, with the club keen to integrate him gradually into full training.

While Arsenal's other major signings - including Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martín Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard - all made the 30-man squad heading to Singapore, Madueke's absence stands out, particularly given the anticipation surrounding his move. However, staff are believed to view this as a short-term measure aimed at preserving the winger's fitness and allowing for tailored onboarding.

Madueke arrives at Arsenal with high expectations. His pace, directness, and one-on-one ability offer a different dynamic in wide areas, and his style could provide a natural complement to Arteta's tactical demands. With Bukayo Saka carrying a heavy workload in recent seasons, Madueke's presence may allow for more rotation without compromising attacking output.

Despite not traveling, Madueke is expected to be available for the latter stages of preseason once the squad returns from Asia. Arsenal face AC Milan and Newcastle United in Singapore before a high-profile clash with rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong.

The club remains excited about the potential impact Madueke can have this season. After an inconsistent spell at Chelsea, the move to north London represents a chance to reset and realize the promise that made him one of the Eredivisie's brightest young stars prior to his Premier League arrival.

If all goes to plan, Arsenal fans may not have to wait long to see Madueke in red and white - and Arteta will be hoping the winger quickly finds his rhythm in time for the new campaign.
