Pitso Mosimane reportedly among top candidates for Ghana hot seat

The Black Stars are currently without a coach following the dismissal of Otto Addo earlier this week. His exit came after Ghana slumped to a fifth consecutive defeat, most recently a 2-1 loss to Germany national football team in an international friendly.

Ghana will kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama national football team on June 18, before facing England national football team and Croatia national football team in what promises to be a challenging Group L.

According to reports from Accra as reported by KickOff, Mosimane is not the only high-profile name under consideration. Former Morocco coach Walid Regragui, who recently parted ways with the Atlas Lions after the AFCON final, is also in the running. In addition, experienced French coach Hervé Renard has been linked with the role.

A source indicated that the Ghana Football Association has already initiated contact with multiple candidates and is expected to announce a new head coach in the near future.

Mosimane, currently unattached after his stint with Iranian side Esteghlal F.C., brings a wealth of experience at both club and international level.

The 59-year-old previously served as an assistant coach for South Africa national football team during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and could now be in line for a return to football’s biggest stage—this time as a head coach.
