The South African football fraternity was shocked by tragic news on Saturday after it was confirmed that the 25-year-old Bafana Bafana midfielder Adams had passed away in Cape Town.
"There are losses for which life, however painful, give us time to prepare – go itlhoboga [for disappointments]," read the statement on the PSL website.
"Jayden Adams' untimely passing has left the nation stunned with grief. A young footballer of exceptional promise whose talent, humility and dedication had earned him the admiration of the nation.
"His star was unmistakably on the rise. In a short space of time, he created memories that will endure in South African football and in the nation's reference points.
"Please accept our heartfelt condolences and kindly convey them to Jayden Adams’ family and the broader Masandawana family. May his soul repose peacefully."
A moment of silence was observed at the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final fixtures on Saturday in honour of the former Stellenbosch star who featured in all of Bafana Bafana's group stage games.
