Thomas Tuchel: Phil Foden 'not guaranteed' England 2026 World Cup spot
Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Phil Foden is not certain to make England's squad for the 2026 World Cup after failing to impress in the latest international break.

Lammens joined United on deadline day in September 2025 for around 18.1 million pounds plus add-ons, and has since established himself in the side while also earning senior caps for the Belgium national team.
Coton has said the signing was years in the making. "He first came onto my radar in 2019 at Brugge," he explained. "At that time, we felt he was not ready, but we kept tracking him. I watched a lot of his games over the years and his development was clear."
United moved decisively once competition for the goalkeeper increased, particularly after Andre Onana left on loan to Trabzonspor earlier in the campaign.
Coton has said Lammens' mentality and style suited the modern game. "He loved defending his goal and it meant something to him when he conceded," he said. "He was physically strong and very comfortable with the ball at his feet, which is vital now."
The scout added that meeting the player confirmed United's decision. "When we spoke to him, his focus stood out. He was completely locked in on what we were saying. That matched what I had seen on the pitch."
Coton also backed Lammens to step straight into the team. "I had no concerns about him playing immediately if needed, and when he got his chance, I was not surprised by how well he did."
Since signing for Man Utd on 1 September 2025, Lammens has played 26 matches in all competitions for the club.
Despite his strong start in England, Coton believes there is still more to come. "He has got all the tools and the mentality," he said. "If he keeps improving the small details, he can become one of the best in the world."
