Sione Tuipulotu full of emotion following massive Six Nations win over rivals England

Sione Tuipulotu full of emotion following massive Six Nations win over rivals England

It's the oldest rivalry in rugby. Scotland claimed the Calcutta Cup and ended England's 12-run win streak with a bonus-point win in front of the Murrayfield faithful.

The stunning result also eased pressure on coach Gregor Townsend, who came under heavy fire following their loss to Italy last week. It marked the first time in eight attempts that Scotland had beaten a top-ten-ranked nation.

As such, there was much riding on the result, and Tuipulotu's men came up trumps with enterprising play and ruthless execution.

"Beyond proud," Tuipulotu told the BBC after the match.

"I'm proud of everyone involved. I see everything that goes on behind closed doors that everyone else doesn't get to see.

"I stand by what I said during the week, and I'm happy we got behind our coach today and put in a performance we can be proud of.

"I want to enjoy tonight with my teammates, but make no mistake, we'll be all hands on deck [next week]."

Scotland travel to Cardiff to face troubled Wales next week.

Meanwhile, opposn captain Maro Itoge admitted he and his England teammates did not play up to their expectations.

"It was a tough day at the office, we didn't get firing in the way we wanted to, but that is the nature of the beast," he said.

"We have to learn our lesson and move forward. We didn't start well, we were not as accurate and precise as we wanted to do be, in the scrum especially, all of those areas need to be better."
