While Wiese didn't add any points for his side, he did just about everything else and was easily the best player on the pitch in a winning cause for the D-Rocks.
The Canon Eagles attackers could not find a way through his channel all game as Wiese put in 23 tackles with several big hits that drove them backwards.
It also seemed like he was a feature at every single ruck as he secured the ball for his side while also managing to slow down the D-Rocks.
However, it was with ball in hand that he was most impressive as he made an astonishing 20 carries to gain over 80 metres for his side and also made a clean line break.
Kriel was good for the D-Rocks without being spectacular, making seven tackles and running for 30 metres in nine carries with a line break, while also scoring an important try to get his side back in the game in the 53rd minute.
The centre was on hand to finish off a well-worked move that went through four phases of the D-Rocks forwards drawing defenders into rucks to make space out wide for Kriel to score a fairly simple try.
Damian de Allende was solid for the Saitama Wild Knights as they beat Shizuoka Blue Revs, captained by Kwagga Smith, 37-22.
De Allende made seven tackles on defence but also missed a couple, while running for around 50 metres in seven carries.
He was also a key playmaker in midfield with many of the Wild Knights' attacks either starting with him or going through his channel.
Smith, on the other hand, only played 49 minutes before he was subbed off shortly after half-time but was his typical busy self, hitting rucks and constantly looking for ways to get involved during his time on the pitch.
Cheslin Kolbe's Suntory Sungoliath suffered an agonising 20-22 defeat at the hands of Kobe Steelers after All Black Sam Cane was shown a red card in the 52nd minute.
Cane also received a yellow card earlier in the match, leaving his side to play with 14 men for around half an hour of the game.
Kolbe put in a decent performance, running for nearly 50 metres in four carries with an offload that led to a try but he did miss a couple of crucial tackles as well.
Malcolm Marx put in a big shift for the Kubota Spears, who ran out 45-21 winners over a Honda Heat outfit featuring Franco Mostert.
Marx gained around 50 metres in seven carries with a clean line break and an offload to help his side maintain momentum going forward. He also chipped in with nine tackles and completely emptied his tank before he was subbed off in the 64th minute.
Mostert's performance was a bit more subdued as he only managed 26 metres from eight carries, but he did provide a try assist from a clean break through the defence.
Thomas du Toit came off the bench and did a magnificent job of shoring up Bath's scrum as they beat Castres 20-43 in the Champions Cup.
Herschel Jantjies was brought on in the second half by Bayonne but could not prevent his side from falling to a heavy 57-14 defeat to the Leicester Tigers despite putting in a solid shift.
The scrumhalf made 15 passes and ran for around 40 metres in his 22 minutes on the pitch, creating a try assist.
Marnus van der Merve came on as a second-half substitute in Scarlets' 38-47 loss to French Top 14 side Section Paloise.
The hooker made a significant difference to the set pieces, finding his mark with all of his lineout throws and adding a bit of stability to the scrum.
