Springbok, Sharks wing Makazole Mapimpi hit with five-match ban
Springboks and Sharks wing Makazole Mapimpi has been handed a five-match suspension following the red card he received against Ulster in the United Rugby Championship at the weekend.
Despite having the silky skills to scythe through gaps or create one with the swing of his hips, Feinberg-Mngomezulu is not scared of going Route 1 with the ball in hand. The same could be said when it comes to his defence, where he doesn't shy away from physical contact.
While praising his physicality, Brown added that it's his job to get the young flyhalf to do the basics well.
"He's actually quite a tough kid, he's a boxer so you don't want to take him on, on the rugby field, you see him get into a few scuffles, so he's a scrapper as well," Brown told The Breakdown this week.
"He's got the talent so my job is just to get him to do the simple things well, things that win you Test matches: kick your goals, kick well out of hand, control the game, lead the team around the field.
"If I can do that, his talent's just going to come out all the time on the rugby field."
Even at the tender age of 23, Feinberg-Mngomezulu has been compared to some of the game's greats. Brown was the latest to offer his educated opinion.
"There are special players out there that come along and they're special because they can do things that other guys can't do on the rugby field," continued the Kiwi.
"He's definitely one of those guys. You obviously saw it with Dan Carter when he first came along, [Antoine] Dupont with France – all the best players that have ever been have something special about them.
"He's got that talent, he sees space better than anyone, he's got athletic ability to attack as a 10, 15 or a 12."
