URC Derby Day: Wilco Louw anticipating another titanic battle against Stormers

The visitors, who began the URC with eight consecutive wins, have failed to win their last three matches and will be determined to stop the losing streak this weekend. They defeated their northern rivals 13-8 in January in Cape Town.

Conversely, the Bulls have found their form and are on a three-match win streak and will be eager to make amends to their home fans for some poor performances at home this season.

In typical Bulls fashion, the match is scheduled in the heart of the day at 2pm at Loftus Versveld.

"I wouldn't say it counts that much in our favour," reflected Louw on Netwerk24.

"Teams are so fit and well-conditioned these days and many overseas teams have come to Loftus and won despite the altitude.

"It's about which team plays the best rugby on the day. We must arrive with the right mindset and be accurate. We are preparing thoroughly for another titanic battle against a very good Stormers pack.

"The north-south derby is always a big one on the calendar. We already played earlier this season in the Cape and it was an incredible match. It will be the same again on Saturday."

The match has personal significance for Louw, who will leave Pretoria for pastures new in Cape Town at the end of the season. But the Springbok is fully focused on achieving success with the Bulls at the business end of the URC.

"I'm grateful that I got the chance to play for the Bulls again," said Louw, who started his youth career in the franchise.

"It's a great group of players here and it's been three incredible seasons with so many good memories. But my time at the Bulls isn't over yet. I would like to finish my chapter here on a high."
