'We are having a great party here' - Solbakken salutes Norway after Brazil shock

Erling Haaland scored both goals as Norway produced one of the biggest results in the country's football history. Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland also played a key role with a series of important saves before Neymar converted a late penalty deep into stoppage time, setting up a tense finish.

Solbakken said the victory reflected the strong bond within his squad.

"This is a great group. They love being together, they train well, they help each other and protect each other," he told reporters.

"We have a strong culture and we give people the opportunity to be themselves and say what they want. That's a very important part of the whole thing, whether things are going well or not."

Norway's now-famous rowing celebration returned after the final whistle, with players and supporters joining in as celebrations spread across the country.

"I think the whole nation is rowing together," Solbakken said.

"We are having a great party here, in Oslo and in all the other big and small cities across Norway. The rowing is a symbol that we are all together.

"It's a great summer to be a fan. I think it's better to be a fan than a coach."

Norway surprised many by controlling large periods of possession against Brazil, but Solbakken revealed it was part of the team's tactical plan.

"We wanted to have as much possession of the ball as possible," he said.

"They have players who are very good in their positions, but maybe they don't enjoy chasing the ball. We thought that could work in our favour."

Norway's reward was a quarter-final meeting with England after Thomas Tuchel's side defeated Mexico 3-2 later on Sunday.
