Speaking about Gambhir's methods, Arun explained that the current India head coach places strong emphasis on clearly assigning duties and responsibilities within the squad.
According to Arun, Gambhir believes players perform best when they understand their roles and are trusted to take ownership of getting things right. The pair previously worked together at Kolkata Knight Riders, where Gambhir was appointed mentor ahead of the IPL 2024 season.
Arun feels that this philosophy has translated particularly well to the shortest format. He believes Gambhir's success as a T20 coach stems from the freedom he gives players to express themselves without fear of failure.
"He gives you that freedom to express yourself. With Gambhir, my experience is that what you see is what you get," Bharat Arun told RevSportz.
"He is a tough task master, but he defines the process, and it is up to you to find ways to get those processes right. I think because of the experience of the Indian team, and their experience in the IPL, we have become a formidable T20 team.
"I have seen all the leagues around the world, and I would definitely say that the IPL is the highest standard. It is close to international cricket, to have 10 teams, where any team can win.
"If you play in a format like this, along with the greats of the game, and when you perform in this league, you know you have arrived."
Since Gambhir succeeded Rahul Dravid as India head coach following the 2024 T20 World Cup, the team have enjoyed sustained success in T20 internationals, despite encountering difficulties in the longer formats.
India have emerged as a dominant force in T20Is since the last T20 World Cup, winning eight consecutive bilateral series and lifting the 2025 Asia Cup title.
