Chelsea fumble two goal lead against Leeds United to end winning streak

The Blues dominated possession in the first half before Joao Pedro put the hosts ahead with a fine chip over goalkeeper Karl Darlow in the 24th minute after good combination play with Cole Palmer.

Leeds did not offer a threat going forward in the first half and found themselves 2-0 down in the 58th minute, with Palmer converting from the penalty spot following a foul on Joao Pedro.

However, the Lily Whites were handed a lifeline when Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo tripped Jayden Bogle in the box to concede a penalty that was duly converted by Lukas Nmecha (67').

The goal revived the visitors hopes and they applied more pressure which led to a panicked Josh Acheampong mistakenly putting the ball in the path of Noah Okafor to equalize in the 73rd minute.

Brazilian Joao Pedro came closest to grabbing a late winner, but his effort hit the woodwork while Cole Palmer also missed the best chance in injury time as the two sides shared the spoils.

"We are very frustrated because I think we started the game very well," said Joao Pedro after the match.

"We controlled the game at 1-0 and 2-0, but in the end, we conceded. This season has been like this. I think we have to be more consistent and more focused, and kill the game, but today it happened again. We need to look at ourselves to see where we can improve."

The result ended a four-match winning streak for fifth placed Chelsea in the Premier League under new manager Liam Rosenior while Leeds moved above Tottenham to 15 spot on the table.
