Moroney brings with him a wealth of experience in his field. His career spans a wide range of roles, from serving as Director of Sport and Marketing at the high school level to holding various selector positions, including with the Youth Men Talent Identification Programme and as the Lions Cricket Convenor of Selectors, among others.
He has honed his skills as a selector since 2001 and has previously served as Convenor of Selectors for the SA National Academy, SA Emerging, and Men's U19 teams.
As the newly appointed Convenor Selector, Moroney will report to Enoch Nkwe, Director of National Teams and High Performance, and work closely with the Proteas Men's Head Coach. Based at the Centre of Excellence in Pretoria, he will formally take up his role on 1 August 2025.

New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of the T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe involving the Proteas and the subsequent Test series after sustaining a groin injury during the Major League Cricket final.
The Proteas suffered a defeat in their second T20I tr-series clash in Harare following a 21-run loss to New Zealand on Wednesday.
George Linde wants to use the ongoing tri-series in Harare to push his case to represent the Proteas at next year's T20 World Cup in India.
