Daren Sammy frustrated as West Indies cricketers remain stranded in India

The delay comes after US and Israeli strikes on Iran prompted international airspace restrictions, preventing the squad from flying home.

"At least an update, tell us something. Today tmw, next week. It's been 5 days," Sammy stated on X.

The team had been eliminated from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup following a loss to India national cricket team in the Super Eight stage on Sunday. With travel disrupted, several players face uncertainty over their next commitments.

Some may remain in India to join pre-season camps for the Indian Premier League. Rovman Powell's camp with Kolkata Knight Riders is scheduled to start on 18 March, while Sherfane Rutherford, Shimron Hetmyer, and Romario Shepherd also await arrangements for their respective teams.

"It is completely handled by ICC. We have no update on the West Indies team movement but as per the latest update they are still here and looking for a chartered flight," the official told PTI.

A Cricket Association of Bengal official confirmed that the situation is being handled by the ICC. Meanwhile, Cricket West Indies is coordinating with international authorities to ensure the squad's safe return, amid growing concern over the extended stay.

"Cricket West Indies (CWI) wishes to advise that the departure of the West Indies senior men's team from India, following their exit from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, has been delayed due to international airspace restrictions," the board said.

"These restrictions are a direct result of the security threats posed by military action in the Gulf Region, which has impacted several international flight routes and required airlines to adjust scheduled services for safety reasons. CWI appreciates the understanding and concern of our fans, families and stakeholders during this time."

The stranded players are expected to remain in close contact with both the ICC and their IPL franchises as travel plans are finalised.
