Abdeslam Ouaddou reflects on surviving car accident ahead of MTN8 final
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has opened up about the car accident that left him and several members of his technical team hospitalised last month.
The 33-year-old becomes the latest experienced campaigner to be added to Gomora's squad, which already includes former Premier Soccer League (PSL) stars Mxolisi Macuphu and another ex-Bucs defender Rooi Mahamutsa.
Chabalala had been without a club since leaving Chippa United at the end of last season. That spell was his second stint with the Betway Premiership outfit, having also turned out for them on loan from Pirates in 2017.
Despite captaining the team and playing regularly, he was surprisingly released at the end of the campaign.
According to FarPost, Chabalala began training with Gomora last week and did enough to impress head coach Johnny Ferreira, resulting in the defender being handed a contract. He has reportedly signed a one-year deal with an option to extend for another season.
It is still unclear whether he will make his debut when Gomora host the University of Pretoria on Sunday, 14 September.
Gomora have made a mixed start to life in the second tier, winning their opening game 1-0 against fellow newcomers Leicesterford City before suffering a 2-1 away defeat to Venda FC.
They currently sit seventh on the log with three points, three behind early pacesetters Casric Stars, who remain the only side yet to drop points.
A victory this weekend could see Ferreira's men climb further up the table, though the season is still in its early stages.
