Harry Brook: England must adapt to rain in T20 World Cup clash with Sri Lanka

Unseasonal rain in Sri Lanka over the past few days has threatened to disrupt the crucial encounter, scheduled to take place in Kandy.

Weather forecasts have raised the possibility of a significantly shortened match, with the contest potentially reduced to as few as five overs per side.

Brook acknowledged that such a scenario would demand a tactical rethink, including possible changes to the batting order.

Uncertainty also surrounds the surface, with the pitch having been under covers, adding another variable to an already unpredictable fixture.

Breaking from their usual practice of naming the XI 24 hours in advance, England will delay confirming their team until the toss on Sunday.

"I think you just have to prepare as if it is a T20," Brook told reporters.

"I think you can sometimes go down a bit of a rabbit hole thinking that you're going to play a five-over game and then it ends up being a T20 and you kind of play it slightly differently.

"So I think we've just got to prepare as if it is a T20 game and hope that the rain stays away.

"And then if it doesn't, then we've got to adapt."
