Super Giants claim IPL win over Sunrisers

Lucknow Super Giants registered their first win of the 2026 Indian Premier League with a narrow victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 10 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday, getting home with just one ball to spare.

After winning the toss and choosing to field, LSG made immediate inroads. Mohammed Shami set the tone with a superb opening spell, dismissing Abhishek Sharma (0 off 2) and Travis Head (7 off 8) in successive overs. Prince Yadav then removed captain Ishan Kishan (1 off 4), reducing SRH to 11/3 inside four overs. The pressure continued as Liam Livingstone fell for 14, caught behind by Rishabh Pant, leaving the hosts in deep trouble.

At 35/4 after 10 overs, SRH needed a rebuild, which came through Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The duo added 116 runs for the fifth wicket — a franchise record for SRH — with Klaasen scoring 62 off 41 and Reddy contributing 56 off 33. However, Siddharth's dismissal of Reddy in the 18th over triggered another collapse, as SRH lost five wickets for 22 runs in the final three overs to finish on 156/9. Shami (2/9), Avesh Khan, and Prince Yadav claimed two wickets each.

In reply, LSG began positively with Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram putting on a steady start. Marsh made 14 before falling to Eshan Malinga, while Markram took charge, guiding LSG to 53/1 at the end of the powerplay. His innings of 45 off 27 ended when Shivang Kumar had him caught at the boundary by Livingstone.

The chase tightened as Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran departed in quick succession, leaving LSG needing 49 from 36 balls. Rishabh Pant and Abdul Samad then steadied the innings with a 34-run partnership off 27 deliveries, bringing the target down to 19 from 18 balls.

Pant reached his half-century in 43 balls, but SRH kept things tense, taking the game into the final over with nine runs required. Pant, however, finished the job in style, striking three boundaries off Jaydev Unadkat to end unbeaten on 68 off 50 and seal the win for LSG.

Royal Challengers too strong for Chennai Super Kings

Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a commanding performance at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, defeating Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs.

Batting first after CSK chose to field, RCB piled up a massive 250/3 — the highest total ever scored against Chennai in IPL history.

The innings began steadily despite the early loss of Virat Kohli (28 off 18), dismissed by Anshul Kamboj in the fifth over. Phil Salt (46 off 30) and Devdutt Padikkal (50 off 29) then stitched together a strong platform before the game shifted in the final overs.

Tim David turned the innings into a spectacle with an unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls at a strike rate of 280. He took apart Jamie Overton in the 19th over, smashing 30 runs (6, 2, 6, 6, 6, 4). At the other end, Rajat Patidar remained unbeaten on 48 off 19, as the pair combined for a 99-run stand to propel RCB to a daunting total.

In reply, CSK's chase never quite gained momentum. Jacob Duffy struck early to remove Ruturaj Gaikwad (7), and Ayush Mhatre (1) followed soon after. Sarfaraz Khan kept hopes alive with a quickfire 50 off 25, but was eventually stumped off Krunal Pandya as the required rate climbed.

RCB's bowlers maintained control throughout the innings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the effort with figures of 3/41 and also reached the milestone of 200 IPL wickets, becoming only the second bowler to do so. Suyash Sharma applied pressure in the middle overs, conceding just 21 runs in four overs while taking a wicket.

Late resistance from Jamie Overton (37) and Prashant Veer (43) wasn't enough, as CSK were bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs. David was named Player of the Match for his explosive innings, which powered RCB to their second consecutive win of the season.
