Man City star Rodri doubted if he'd come back from injury at all

Man City star Rodri doubted if he'd come back from injury at all

The 29-year-old has started six of City's last seven matches, including each of their previous four, underlining his growing importance once again. His only recent absence came in the FA Cup away clash at Newcastle, where he was rested as part of heavy squad rotation.

He also featured in the club's Carabao Cup final triumph over Arsenal, further highlighting his return to high-level involvement.

Rodri's resurgence follows a serious knee injury sustained around 18 months ago, an issue that initially left him questioning whether he would ever return.

Although he made his comeback towards the end of last season, minor setbacks delayed his full reintegration, with regular appearances only resuming in January.

"It's such an incredible thing to be back playing regularly," he said. "I had been doubting many things including if I was going to be able to come back.

"Physically, you are in pain. Mentally, you have a lot of feelings. I really questioned myself, but getting to a place like where I'm at now, it makes me proud of the process I've lived. Now it's about enjoying being back where I want to be."

Now, however, the Spanish international appears mentally refreshed and ready to embrace the demands of the run-in. His performances suggest a player transitioning from recovery into rhythm, with confidence steadily returning.
