Report: Bernardo Silva informs Man City he will leave in the off-season

The 31-year-old Portuguese playmaker, long regarded as a key figure in Pep Guardiola's system, leaves behind a legacy that includes six Premier League titles, a Champions League triumph, and a total of 16 trophies.

Widely considered a club legend, Silva has been described as a natural leader and tactical lieutenant, and his exit is expected to create a significant void in City's midfield.

Silva's decision comes after a period of uncertainty during which talks over a contract extension were paused. Sources indicate that the player is seeking a fresh challenge and is willing to accept a reduced salary, signalling his priority is a sporting move over financial gain.

His preferred destination remains Barcelona, although financial constraints at the Spanish club and internal doubts about the necessity of signing another midfielder may complicate any deal.

Other La Liga sides, including Atletico Madrid, have also shown interest, while Juventus and Napoli are reportedly monitoring the situation.

Alternative options outside Europe are under consideration, with strong interest from Saudi Pro League clubs offering lucrative contracts, and Major League Soccer also seen as a viable destination. Agent Jorge Mendes is actively engaging with multiple clubs to explore all possibilities.

Manchester City now faces the prospect of losing not just Silva but potentially Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. The potential loss of this midfield duo raises concerns over long-term stability.

Early reports suggest that Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United and Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest are being eyed as possible replacements to mitigate the impact of Silva's departure.
