Marcelo Allende praises Miguel Cardoso for steering Sundowns to league title

Masandawana clinched a resounding 3-0 victory over Chippa United on Wednesday in Buffalo City to win the silverware.

Allende, who was named Man of the Match, praised Cardoso's leadership during a testing debut season

The win lifted Sundowns to 70 points with one match still to play, making it mathematically impossible for Orlando Pirates to catch them.

Allende, ever the sportsman, also congratulated the Pirates for a commendable season, despite their guaranteed second-place finish.

"It was a tough game, a tough season," said Allende on SuperSport TV.

"I think we know Pirates are doing a good job. I say congratulations to my team, my technical team and the fans. This is for them and our families to enjoy. We have a lot of good players."

The Chilean midfielder was instrumental in midfield throughout the match, driving the team forward and dictating the tempo as Sundowns delivered a dominant performance to clinch the title in style.

Cardoso's appointment raised eyebrows at the start of the campaign, but the Portuguese tactician has quickly silenced any doubts by guiding the team to yet another domestic crown. His tactical discipline and ability to manage the squad have drawn widespread praise.

"He came in a tough moment for us," said Allende, when asked about Cardoso.

"I think we lost the final [Carling Knockout Cup] we needed confidence in CAF. He came in strong, he started strong and I can only say thank you to the coach, the players and all the staff.

"It's the first one [league title] for him I want him to get more. We have another one [CAF Champions League final] in two weeks so let's enjoy this one and get ready for the next one."
