Marnus Labuschagne dropped from Australia ODI squad for tours to Zimbabwe and South Africa

Labuschagne struggled to nail down a spot in the ODI in Bangladesh and Pakistan in June, scoring 55 batting down the order in one game following a string of low scores.

Pat Cummins, who remains Australia's official ODI captain, and fellow fast bowler Mitchell Starc will join for the South Africa leg of the tour ahead of the three-match Test series in October, while Josh Hazlewood will feature in both ODI series.

Australia will three ODIs in Zimbabwe before taking on the Proteas in a further three matches in what is seen as important series ahead of the 2027 World Cup, which will be hosted in both countries.

"This six-game series is an important lead-in to next year's World Cup, being played in the same countries, for the group," Australia selection chair George Bailey said.

"As such it's great to have Mitch (Marsh), Travis and Josh returning, then Pat and Mitch (Starc) for the (South Africa) leg. This gives us our core of players mixed with some we think will continue to make an impression."

The Zimbabwe ODIs take place on September 15, 18 and 20 in Harare. The South Africa series will be held on September 24, 27 and 30 in Durban, Johannesburg and Potchefstroom respectively.
