This season's IPL suspended due to India-Pakistan political violence
This season's Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended with immediate effect due to the political and violent conflict between India and Pakistan.
Burger - who had previously been on Rajasthan’s books - has been called in to replace bowler Sandeep Sharma, who recently fractured his finger.
"Sandeep sustained a finger injury while attempting to stop a powerful drive from Shubman Gill off his own bowling during RR’s match against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 28," read a statement from the franchise.
"The 31-year-old right-arm pacer, however, bravely completed the final eight deliveries of his spell in the match. He underwent scans later, which confirmed a fracture and ruled him out for the remainder of the season."
Burger last featured for Rajasthan in 2024. The left-armer played six matches and picked up seven wickets at an average of 20.71. He joins Rajasthan for 3.5 crore.
The news comes after Rajasthan signed South African teenage sensation Lhuan-dre Pretorius as an injury replacement for batter Nitish Rana.
