Asia Cup: Imperious India cruise to seven-wicket win over Pakistan
India won their second Asia Cup clash when they defeated Pakistan in another complete performance in Dubai on Sunday evening.
With preparations for the Women's World Cup in the final stages, the Proteas chased down a target of 256 with eight balls to spare as Brits finished on 101 not out and Kapp unbeaten on 121.
The duo put on a stand of 216, a new highest third-wicket partnership for the Proteas Women, with Brits striking her fifth ODI hundred and veteran Kapp her fourth century.
The visitors had suffered an early setback in the run-chase when captain Laura Wolvaardt (4) was bowled by spinner Sadia Iqbal in the second over.
Brits and Sune Luus added 38 for the second wicket but it was 43-2 in the 10th over when Luus played across the line and was trapped lbw by Rameen Shamim for 30.
Kapp was initially the more aggressive in the mammoth partnership, reaching her fifty from 55 balls while Brits took 67 deliveries to reach her half-century.
Both players seemed at ease at the crease with Kapp hitting 13 fours and two sixes in her 128 deliveries while Brits struck nine fours in her 121-ball knock.
Pakistan had earlier reached a total of 255-4 in their 50 overs thanks largely to an unbeaten 121 from number three Sidra Amin, who walked to the crease in the second over and batted for 150 balls.
Opener Muneeba Ali hit 76 off 94 deliveries in a 147-run second-wicket partnership with Amin, but hit was seamer Ayabonga Khaka that broke the stand.
Khaka finished with figures of 2-36 in nine overs in what was a disciplined bowling effort from the Proteas in extreme humidity.
The Proteas Women can wrap up a morale-boosting series victory with the second game also taking place in Lahore on Friday.
