Report: Marcus Rashford spotted in Barcelona ahead of move from Man Utd

The English forward is set to become a Barcelona player for the 2025-26 season, with the transfer expected to be finalised on Monday, according to club sources.

Negotiations between Barcelona and Manchester United wrapped up over the weekend, with the clubs exchanging paperwork on Sunday after striking a deal on Saturday. Rashford will join on a season-long loan, with an option to buy for approximately 30 million euros.

The 28-year-old touched down in Barcelona at around 9:30 PM on Sunday and is scheduled to undergo his medical on Monday morning.

The plan is for Rashford to be available for Barcelona's pre-season tour of Asia, which begins on Thursday. Manager Hansi Flick has included the forward in his 26-man squad for the three friendly matches, marking his first selection since taking charge.

"We're thrilled to have a player of Marcus' quality," Flick said in a recent press conference. "He brings pace, versatility, and a winning mentality."

Barcelona identified a winger as their top priority this summer after failing to secure Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams, despite advanced talks. With Liverpool demanding an exorbitant fee for Luis Díaz, Barcelona turned to Rashford, whose enthusiasm for the move has been evident.

The England international reportedly took a significant pay cut from his 18-million-euro salary at Manchester United to make the transfer happen.

Rashford has also been vocal about his admiration for Barcelona, dropping hints on social media and in interviews throughout the summer. "It's a dream to play for a club with such history," he said in a recent post on X.

This marks Barcelona's third signing of the summer, following the acquisition of goalkeeper Joan Garcia, whose release clause was paid in full, and young Swedish talent Roony Bardghji.

Flick has yet to decide whether Bardghji will stay with the first team, join the reserves, or be loaned out, with the manager stating, "We'll assess his progress in training before making a call."

As Barcelona prepare for the new season, Rashford's signing signals their ambition to reclaim domestic and European glory. With the Asia tour looming, all eyes will be on how the English star adapts to Flick's system.
