West Indies claim ODI series win over England with emphatic victory

With the series level at one apiece, all the marbles were up for grabs in the final ODI in Bridgetown. Put in to bat first, England were quickly wallowing in the mire.

Two quick scalps from Windies quick Romario Shepard - supported by Player of the Series Matthew Ford and Alzarri Joseph - had the visitors teetering on just 24/4 in the tenth over.

Opener Phil Salt combined with Sam Curran for some resistance and after the latter holing out in the deep to Roston Chase, Dan Mousely stepped up and contributed a fine 57.

The tail wagged for England and the West Indies-born Jofra Archer bludgeoned 38 off 17 to take them to a respectable 263/8 at the break.

Despite a buoyant start from openers Brandon King and Evin Lewis, England would have felt they were in the contest when Jamie Overton got his maiden ODI wicket, dismissing Lewis for 19.

But that was virtually the last celebration from the visitors.

King and Keacy Carty took the game away from England, both reaching their maiden centuries and racking up an incredible 209-run partnership off just 203 balls. Finally, Reece Topley bowled King with just a handful of runs left in the chase. Carty would finish unbeaten on 128 as the West Indies soaked up a well-deserved series victory.
