Zitha Kwinika highlights benefits of Kaizer Chiefs' pre-season tour of Holland

Despite winning just one of their five friendly matches alongside four losses, the Betway Premiership side were able to use the opportunity to test out new signings and prepare for the upcoming campaign.

Amakhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi is hoping to improve on last's season's ninth-placed finish and has brought in a raft of players he hopes will invigorate the side, including Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Flavio Silva, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako and Siphesihle Ndlovu.

Kwinika, who saw his opportunties limited in the first team last season, explained that he learned a lot from playing the likes of Vitesse Arnhem, Utrecht, NEC Nijmegen, PEC Zwolle and FC Twente.

He said on IOL: "The Netherlands has been good to us. We have learned a lot, and we are definitely going back home as better people and players.

"The seconds they spend on the ball are minimal and quite effective.

"The level is a bit high; they understand the moments very well. In whatever they do, they understand the right time to press, when and where to press, and how to keep the ball.

"They have a different way of playing football. In our South African style, we dribble people around, but here they dribble you with the pass."

Chiefs are next in action in the Toyota Cup against Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, in their last match before the 2024/25 season kicks off.
