Abdeslam Ouaddou refuses to be carried away by early success at Orlando Pirates

Abdeslam Ouaddou refuses to be carried away by early success at Orlando Pirates

Ouaddou, who has already helped secure the MTN8 title this season, urged for patience as he addressed the media at Rand Stadium on Tuesday ahead of Saturday's Carling Knockout final against Marumo Gallants at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

While acknowledging the team's progress, the Moroccan-born tactician emphasised that any assessment of his tenure would be premature.

"I would just like to thank my players, my staff and the club, because it's a collective work. We are getting results together," he told journalists.

"But just to judge this work now - I think it's too early."

Ouaddou revealed that one of his primary focuses has been ensuring his philosophy aligns with the club's broader vision. He stressed that the group remains committed to the standards expected at Pirates.

"We are aligned with the targets of the club, and we are doing our job. We will continue to work hard in order to reach targets for the club and for our fans," he added.

The 47-year-old's call for calm comes at a time when expectations around the Buccaneers are rising. Pirates have not won the Carling Knockout since its introduction three seasons ago.

With Saturday's final looming, the Soweto giants have an opportunity to secure their second trophy of the campaign and boost their push for further silverware in the Betway Premiership, which has also eluded them for three consecutive seasons.

For Ouaddou, however, the focus remains on steady progress rather than early accolades.
