Abdeslam Ouaddou satisfied with pre-season tour despite ending with defeat to NEOM SC

Algerian striker Said Benrahma was the difference at the Estepona Football Center with his 31st minute free-kick.

The Buccaneers had kicked off their tour with a 1-1 draw with Spanish Segunda Division side Cordoba before a 3-2 loss to Saudi team Al-Ittihad and 1-0 win over Las Palmas.

Despite the inconsistency of results, Ouaddou explained that he got what he wanted from the tour of Spain as they look ahead to their first clash of their defence of the Betway Premiership title at home against newly promoted Milford FC on August 1st.

Speaking after Friday's game, and upbeat Ouaddou told his club's website: "I think in general we got the objective that we came here for.

"We came here to create a cohesion with the players and to integrate the new players and at the same time to work and prepare for the first match of the PSL."

Pirates released a number of players as part of a squad overhaul ahead of the new season, while strengthening in just a few key areas. New Bucs signings include Neo Rapoo and Matome Mmolai, Mthetheleli Mthiyane, Sbangani Zulu, Bohale Ngwato and Ghampani Lungu.

“I can say that we achieved most of the targets and we go back with some positives, but on the other hand I must say there's an area of concern that I'm not so happy about. The area where we have conceded too many goals. We have to quickly fix that area before the first game,” added Ouaddou.

“The fitness target has been met because we went to phase three and we reached it. When we arrive back in Johannesburg, we will go to phase four of the preparations because the sharpness of the guys is close to the intensity of the league,” he said.
