Achraf Hakimi excited for "special" Champions League final with former team

The 26-year-old Moroccan international scored a spectacular goal as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Arsenal 2-1 at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening, for a 3-1 aggregate victory over two legs.

Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring on the night after 27 minutes and Hakimi put the tie out of sight on 72 minutes, before Bukayo Saka gave the Gunners a glimmer of hope with his strike on 76 minutes.

Inter, meanwhile, secured their final place with a spectacular 7-6 aggregate win over Barcelona.

Hakimi joined PSG from Inter in 2021 after just one memorable season where he played a major role as the Nerazzurri won their first Serie A title in eleven years.

The full-back told Sky Sport Italia: "Inter are a great team. We know the characteristics they have. We watched them yesterday."

"For me it will be a special final. And we'll face it with huge motivation.

"It will be special to face my former teammates and my former team again. It was an important step in my career.

"We want to win the Champions League," Hakimi added. "But for now, were enjoying the moment."

Hakimi also reserved praise for coach Luis Enrique, who is on course to lead his side to a treble, with the Champions League and Coupe de France final still to come, and the league already wrapped up.

"The coach has done an incredible job. Since he arrived, he's created a great team," concluded Hakimi.
