PSG boss Luis Enrique pleased to dodge Barcelona in Champions League final

PSG grabbed a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night to secure a 3-1 aggregate win in the semi-finals.

Enrique, who previously managed Barcelona to European glory, acknowledged the emotional complexity a final against his old team would have brought.

"I also think Barca played well; they scored six goals," Enrique told El Larguero.

"If someone tells you you're going to score six goals in a semifinal and still get eliminated, you wouldn't believe it.

"I think Barca showed with their style the kind of football that's played in Barcelona, and throughout history I think they've always been known for that - we've been known for that - and in that sense, I clearly think they could have been in the final and deserved that ending.

"The result, honestly, was a bit strange [from Tuesday]. But if I'm being honest, for me, playing a Champions League final against Barca would've been the worst."

PSG delivered a disciplined performance to overcome Arsenal, showing composure and resilience to book a place in their second Champions League final in recent years.

The result confirms their progression to the final in Munich, where they will take on Inter Milan in what promises to be a thrilling clash of styles.

Despite Arsenal's spirited effort, Mikel Arteta's men were unable to recover from the first-leg deficit, with PSG proving clinical and composed over the two legs.

For Enrique, the focus now turns to preparing his squad for the final, as the French champions seek to secure their first-ever Champions League title.
