Adnan Beganovic backs Galaxy despite Nedbank Cup shock exit

Galaxy had been on a 13-game unbeaten run across all competitions until they were stunned by Motsepe Foundation Championship side Durban City, who came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory and secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the Ke Yona Cup at Chatsworth Stadium on Friday.

"It's okay; these things happen in football. We tried to freshen up the team with new players, but unfortunately, we conceded," Beganovic told SABC Sport after the game.

"They had just two shots on goal and scored twice. We created five or six clear chances, but we couldn't convert. We did everything we could, but sometimes football is like that."

With Galaxy currently sitting in fourth place on the Betway Premiership log, Beganovic stressed that winning every match is unrealistic and that their attention must now return to league competition.

"We can't win every game; I'm still proud of my players. Now, we need to start our recovery process and put more focus on the league."
