Adnan Beganovic targets Carling Cup response after Orlando Pirates loss

Galaxy are preparing to face Orbit College in the Carling Knockout last-16 clash at Olympia Park on Saturday.

The Rockets saw their fine league run halted on Tuesday when they went down 2-0 to the Buccaneers at Orlando Stadium. With cup action now on the horizon, Beganovic wants his players to regroup and sharpen their game.

"We need to analyse our performance and fix everything to prepare ourselves for the next games, in both the cup and the league," Beganovic told journalists after the game against Bucs.

"Our goal this season is clear. I want TS Galaxy to play good football, always push for one more goal, and in the end produce good players. I believe we have everything we need, and the future looks bright for us."

Despite the defeat, the 42-year-old coach was encouraged by the fight shown by his team and believes they might have gotten a result had they taken their chances.

"We prepared something, but we couldn't implement our plan," he explained.

"Pirates played well, especially with their build-up play and rotations between the wingers, midfielders and full-backs. [Deon] Hotto and (Thabiso) Lebitso gave us a lot of problems when they controlled possession.

"In the second half, after a few changes, we improved, but against strong opponents, there's only so much you can do."

Beganovic also questioned the penalty awarded to Pirates in the first half, which Evidence Makgopa converted to open the scoring.

"We can talk and talk, but nothing will change now. For me, it wasn't a penalty, and that decision changed the complexion of the game," he said.
