Alvaro Arbeloa backs Kylian Mbappe's Real Madrid return vs Real Oviedo

The France star missed Madrid's last two matches against RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona, while reports surrounding a recovery trip to Sardinia and speculation about an early end to his season created fresh debate over his commitment.

Mbappe has now returned to training, and Arbeloa made it clear he expected the forward to play a role at the Santiago Bernabeu if he completed the final session without problems.

"We'll see if he can finish the training session we have ahead," Arbeloa told reporters.

"He completed it yesterday, and if he can finish it and is available, then he'll surely get minutes and the opportunity to continue demonstrating his commitment to the club in these three remaining matches."

The Madrid coach also defended the striker amid growing criticism over his attitude and relationship with teammates.

"I think so, I think all of them, all my players," Arbeloa said when asked if Mbappe had shown full commitment this season.

"I couldn't think otherwise. I couldn't believe that a Real Madrid player wouldn't give everything they have for the club because then I wouldn't know where they are. This club is the best in the world."

Arbeloa, a former Madrid defender, spoke passionately about what it means to wear the club's badge and insisted every player should appreciate the privilege of representing the Spanish giants.

"This club leaves a deep mark on you," he added. "Players who represent Real Madrid will be remembered their whole lives as former Real Madrid players and European champions."

Despite the criticism surrounding his influence in the dressing room, Mbappe has still delivered impressive numbers in his debut season in Spain. The 27-year-old has scored 41 goals in all competitions and remains one of Madrid's key figures heading into the final three matches of the campaign.
