AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane explains preparing Tshepang Moremi for big-club football

The 25-year-old joined the Buccaneers after rising through AmaZulu's youth system since 2018 and making a name for himself in the senior team.

The former Kaizer Chiefs coach, who worked closely with Moremi last season at the Durban based-outfit, revealed that he challenged the player to push himself if he wanted to succeed at the highest level.

"I told him, ‘Listen; if you want to make it big, I'm going to be on your case. Whether you like it or not, you might not see it now, but later you'll realise why I was on your case," Zwane told iDiski Times.

The former midfielder believes the guidance helped prepare Moremi mentally for the demands of playing for a major club like Orlando Pirates and earning a place in the national team.

"I think it's working for him now. He's doing wonders, growing as a player, and being part of Bafana Bafana regularly is very important," the Usuthu coach added.

"His success will encourage many of the players he left behind, showing them that focus, determination, discipline, and commitment to the game will be rewarded."

Zwane also praised AmaZulu's approach to player development and transfers.

"He still has a long way to go, and he's only 25. We wish him well and want him to succeed at all costs, as it will open doors for many other players," he continued  

"Our club's policy is clear: we do not stand in the way of anyone who wants to pursue their career elsewhere. Of course, the club must get what's due, because at the end of the day, we're in the business of football."
