AmaZulu confirm capture of new signings Thapelo Matlhoko and Athini Maqokolo

Striker Matlhoko (23) joins the Betway Premiership side from Motsepe Foundation Championship club Kruger United while winger Maqokolo (21) penned a deal with Usuthu from JDR Stars.

Both players had already started training with the team but have now signed deals for the current season.

A club statement read: "AmaZulu Football Club is delighted to announce the conclusion of deals for the services of striker Thapelo Matlhoko (23) and right-winger Athini Maqokolo (21).

"The signings, which had been in negotiation for some time, have finally been wrapped up—clearing the two exciting youngsters to don Usuthu’s green and white colours in the Betway Premiership."

Matlhoko, who netted four goals in the National First Division last season, added his excitement at the move, saying: "I'm excited to join AmaZulu FC. They've been treating me well, so I’m ready to overcome everything that comes my way. As a team, we need to score more goals and manage games better. I’m here to contribute – to score, assist, create opportunities, and give my all.”

Maqokolo said: " am so happy to finally be part of AmaZulu (officially). It is something that I have been longing for some time. I’m really happy and I’m looking forward to being fully involved with the team going forward and contributing positively at the club."
