Arne Slot confirms Salah's Liverpool return vs Man City but Alisson ruled out

The Liverpool head coach revealed that Alexander Isak is finally back in training after a long absence, but warned supporters not to expect too much too soon.

"It will definitely be too fast to expect him in the starting line-up," Slot said. "He trained with us yesterday for the first time and today for the second time after exactly 101 days. We will make sure we build him up in the right way."

Slot admitted Isak could feature in a limited role but stressed the risk involved, especially with the possibility of extra-time. "Maybe a few minutes, but let's wait and see how he feels. After two sessions and 100 days out, it would not make sense to start him."

There was more positive news regarding Mohamed Salah and Jeremie Frimpong, both of whom are expected to be available.

On Salah, Slot was direct: "He is fit. He trained with us yesterday, he will train with us today and is available for the game."

Frimpong has also returned to full training, though Slot hinted at careful management. "He seems to be OK, but you could see against Brighton that he still has a step to make playing every three days. It's an interesting challenge to manage his minutes."

However, there was a significant setback with goalkeeper Alisson Becker ruled out for an extended period.

"He will not be part of the Paris Saint-Germain games as well," Slot confirmed. "He will be out for a bit longer. Towards the end of the season we expect him to be fit again."

With fixtures coming thick and fast, Slot faces tough decisions, balancing returning stars with the demands of a high-stakes schedule.
