Usuthu have slipped to fifth spot on the league table and the midweek 1-0 loss to top of the table Mamelodi Sundowns denied them a chance to leapfrog Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United into third position.
Club president Sandile Zungu has been vocal about wanting the KwaZulu-Natal side to be amongst the top four clubs in the country.
The team has revamped under Arthur Zwane into a younger squad with a sprinkle of experienced stars like former Bafana Bafana international Bongani Zungu and defender Taariq Fielies.
"One thing that I know for sure is that come end of the season, we would have achieved our target, that's the bottom line for us," said Zwane after the loss to Sundowns.
"Our target is position four, it has always been that, but as a club, we also fancy our chances that we can finish in the top three because teams are going to cancel each other. All we have to do is to win our home games."
Usuthu will take on Stellenbosch away at the Danie Craven Stadium on Friday. Kick-off 19h30.
