Speaking to the media ahead of their Betway Premiership encounter against Durban City, the former Cape Town Spurs player explained that the supportive atmosphere within the squad and technical team has helped him settle and remain focused on improving his performances.
"I think it's different because this is a big brand," Velebayi said.
"It can be positive in the sense that if you have a good game it keeps you going strong, but it can also break you down. I don't really want to focus too much on that."
The winger added that his main focus is on delivering on the field rather than paying attention to outside criticism.
"For me, the first thing is to control what I do on the field. I don't really like to pay much attention to what's being said outside," he explained.
Chiefs have come under increased scrutiny in recent weeks following a string of disappointing results, but Velebayi believes the internal environment at the club remains encouraging for players.
The youngster joined Chiefs under difficult circumstances from Spurs, who were initially reluctant to release him alongside midfielder Luke Baartman.
However, the situation was eventually resolved, allowing Velebayi to complete his move and become a fully-fledged Amakhosi player.
Reflecting on life at Naturena, the winger described the club as a place where players feel supported.
"I think it's a good environment and very welcoming. Not only from outside, but among us as players and the staff as well. Everyone contributes," Velebayi said.
"I think it's also a good environment to grow into."
