Stellenbosch have confirmed the signing of former Moroka Swallows midfielder Tlakusani Mthethwa.
Ashley Cupido completes loan move to Israeli side FC Kiryat Yam
The 25-year-old joined Stellies in 2024 but struggled to recapture the form that saw him finish the 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship season as top goal scorer for Cape Town Spurs with 15 goals.
Cupido netted six goals in 77 appearances across all competitions for Stellies over the past two campaigns.
The Betway Premiership side are rebuilding their squad after a disappointing ninth-place finish to their previous campaign and Cupido is not currently in head coach Gavin Hunt's plans.
Permanent departures include Olisa Ndah, Wayde Jooste, Oscarine Masuluke, Thabo Moloisane and Mthetheleli Mthiyane.
“Stellenbosch FC striker Ashley Cupido has joined Israeli second division side Kiryat Yam on loan for the duration of the 2026-27 season,” read a club statement.
"Cupido will spend the upcoming campaign abroad after completing a season-long loan to Kiryat Yam, who finished sixth in the Liga Leumit last term.
"The Bafana Bafana international becomes the third player to move from Stellenbosch to Israel in recent years, following previous spells in the country for Ibraheem Jabaar and Faiz Abrahams.
“The Club will continuously monitor Cupido’s progress and wishes him all the best during his loan spell.”
