Following an agreement between the BCCI and the Emirates Cricket Board, fixtures are likely to be staged across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, although three venues were approved in total.
The decision was finalised during the Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) Annual General Meeting, held in Dhaka. While ACC President Mohsin Naqvi (also PCB Chairman) attended in person, BCCI officials, including Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, participated virtually.
Shukla and Naqvi are expected to meet soon to finalise dates and venues, with commercial planning and sponsorship engagements set to begin shortly.
Scheduled tentatively from 7 September 2025 for a duration of 19 days, the T20 tournament will serve as vital preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Eight teams will compete, with India and Pakistan likely to be drawn into the same group, setting the stage for at least two high-stakes clashes—and possibly a third in the final.
Initially, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, had raised doubts over India's ability to host or even participate, but all concerns have now been addressed.
Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), which secured media rights in 2024 for USD 170 million over eight years, will broadcast the tournament.
