Australia suffered yet another injury blow on tour in South Africa with the news that seamer Nathan Ellis will miss the final ODI on Wednesday with a side strain.
Australia call up Jack Edwards to ODI squad ahead of series against Proteas
Stanlake pulled up with a side injury in the second game of the recently-completed ODI series in Zimbabwe, which Australia won 3-0, allowing the tourists to add Edwards to the group for the South Africa tour.
Edwards, a right-arm seamer that can also contribute with the bat, has a T20I appearance under his belt which came against Pakistan earlier this year.
Australia have also released fast bowler Spencer Johnson due to workload management, but will be able to call on senior pacemen Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.
The trio will be rotated in the three 50-over encounters in South Africa so they can be fully fit and firing for the three-match Test series that will follow.
