Australia hit with another injury in SA after Nathan Ellis is ruled out of final ODI
Australia suffered yet another injury blow on tour in South Africa with the news that seamer Nathan Ellis will miss the final ODI on Wednesday with a side strain.
Australia lose Josh Inglis for ODIs in South Africa, a doubt for Test series
Inglis suffered the injury during the series opener on Thursday while the visitors were fielding but did come out to bat, scoring 3 as the Australia fell to a 67-run defeat.
The Test series against the Proteas starts on 9 October and the Inglis has been selected in that squad as reserve wicketkeeper and spare batter.
A statement by Cricket Australia said: "The West Australian will return home for scans with his availability for the three-match Test series subject to further assessment and progress."
Alex Carey, Australia's first-choice Test wicketkeeper, will come into the team for the second ODI at the Wanderers on Sunday and slot into the middle-order.
If Inglis is ruled out of the of the three-match Test series, the tourists will need to consider flying in a replacement wicketkeeper to back up Carey.
Josh Philippe and Sam Harper are the wicketkeepers currently on the Australia A tour to India.
