The Chicago Fire defender has enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign in the United States, quickly establishing himself as a regular starter and one of the club's most influential performers.
Mbokazi's consistency at the heart of Chicago's defence has been rewarded with a place in the MLS All-Star squad, making him only the second South African player in history to receive the honour after the legendary Doctor Khumalo achieved the feat in 1996.
The former Orlando Pirates star has featured in 12 matches for Chicago Fire this season and has become a fan favourite thanks to his commanding displays and leadership at the back.
Confirming the announcement, Chicago Fire highlighted Mbokazi's achievement in a statement this week.
"Chicago Fire FC and Major League Soccer today announced that forward Hugo Cuypers and defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi have been selected to the MLS All-Star Roster for the 2026 MLS All-Star Game presented by Chime," the club said.
The club also noted the significance of Mbokazi's selection in South African football history.
"Led by the most fan votes of any player, Mbokazi also becomes the second South African player selected to an MLS All-Star Game roster in league history (Doctor Khumalo in 1996)."
The recognition is further evidence of the 22-year-old's rapid adaptation to life in the MLS following his move from Orlando Pirates.
Mbokazi will now have the opportunity to share the stage with global superstars including Lionel Messi and Heung-min Son when the MLS All-Stars face the Liga MX All-Stars from Mexico on 29 July at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
For Mbokazi, the selection represents another significant chapter in a career that continues to go from strength to strength.
