Tlisane Motaung says Baroka will defy the odds to retain Motsepe Foundation Championship status
Baroka coach Tlisane Motaung admits it will take a monumental effort from his side to retain their Motsepe Foundation Championship status.

The 39-year-old shot-stopper arrives after being released by Sekhukhune United at the end of last season. He spent three campaigns with Babina Noko, having joined them from JDR Stars in 2021.
Sangare now links up with Bakgaga, who have also secured the services of fellow goalkeeper Mondli Mpoto during the current transfer window as part of their squad reinforcement.
He becomes the latest addition to a list of new signings that includes Gift Muvhali, Thapelo Makuwa, Morris Buthane, Reshoketswi Mantjane, Tetelo Lekwatsipa, Harris Seoka, and Moseki Shongoane, all unveiled by the club last month.
Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele underlined the importance of adding experience to the squad, particularly in the goalkeeping department.
"We need to move up. It's been a long time since we were in this division. We felt we needed an experienced goalkeeper, which we never had," Mphahlele told FarPost.
"This time we are lucky to have him (Sangare). With his experience, we are very fortunate."
Mphahlele further stressed that while the transfer window remains open, the club is satisfied with its current business and will only pursue players who can make a real impact.
"We are not closed in terms of signings, but we want to make sure that when we bring in players, they add value, not just numbers," he explained.
Baroka FC will begin their 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign against newly promoted The Bees at KaNyamazane Stadium in Mbombela on Sunday.
