Bayern Munich sign Morocco World Cup star Ismael Saibari

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder began his career in the youth academies in Spain and Belgium with Beerschot, Anderlecht, KV Mechelen and Genk.

He made the switch to the Netherlands to join Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie in 2020 and ultimately established himself as a first team regular.

Over the past three campaigns, Saibari netted 31 goals in 75 appearances across all competitions,, and jetted off to the World Cup on the back of a league winning season with PSV in the Eredivisie.

He has been one of Morocco's shining lights at the World Cup and made headlines by becoming the first Moroccan to score in each of their group stage matches.

A club statement read: “FC Bayern have signed Ismael Saibari (25) from PSV Eindhoven. The forward is currently on national team duty for Morocco at the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

"He will move from the Dutch champions to Munich after the tournament. Saibari has been handed a contract until 30 June 2031. He will wear the number 34 shirt for FC Bayern.”

Saibari himself expressed his excitement about the transfer. "As a child, you dream of signing a contract with a club like FC Bayern – everybody knows it's one of the world's biggest clubs," he told his new club.

"FC Bayern compete for the biggest titles like the Champions League every year, and I want to win as many trophies as possible here.

“FC Bayern's play suits me, I can play my own style of football here, and I'll work hard every day to help the team. Coach Vincent Kompany played a key role in my decision – I'm looking forward to working with him.”
