Bayern Munich thrash Heidenheim to take another step closer to Bundesliga title

Bayern Munich turned up the pressure on Bayer Leverkusen in second place in the Bundesliga with a thoroughly impressive 4-0 dismantling of Heidenheim on Saturday.

Kane opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Konrad Laimer doubled their advantage six minutes later.

Kingsley Coman would ensure the match was all but over early on when he made it 3-0 in just the 36th minute and Joshua Kimmich completed the rout with his 56th-minute strike.

Leverkusen play St Pauli on Sunday and now need to win or will find themselves nine points off the pace with only six Bundesliga matches remaining on their calendar.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga on Saturday, Union Berlin and Stuttgart traded blows in a thrilling encounter that ended in a 4-4 stalemate. Incredibly, all eight goals were scored in the first half of the game.

Mitchell Weiser's 80th-minute goal was enough for Werder Bremen to scrape past 10-man Bochum with Ibrahima Sissoko getting sent off in the 86th minute, while Shuto Machino and Benjamin Sesko traded blows as RB Leipzig were held to a 1-1 draw by Holstein Kiel.

Mainz and Wolfsburg played out to a thrilling 2-2 draw with Denis Vavro scoring a late equaliser to rescue a point for Wolfsburg, while Lucas Holer's 58th-minute strike was enough to secure a dramatic 3-2 win for Freiburg over Hoffenheim.
